Fring Strikes Back At Skype, Updates Android App With FringOut

Just a few hours after Skype announced their Android app, Fring has updated theirs with FringOut. FringOut is a service that lets you make low-rate phone calls using your phone, it originally debut on Symbian but now has made its way onto our own favourite smartphone OS.

They promise calls for as low as 1c/min with no hidden or extra costs. It works on both Wifi and 3G internationally and uses no operator minutes, just data. If all that wasn’t enough for you, how about unlimited video calls to other Fring users? There are so many different phones coming out with front facing cameras, that’s a killer feature that Skype needs to get on.

As it always has, Fring also acts as a multi-protocol IM client so you can communicate using your favourite IM service like MSN, AIM, GTalk, SIP, ICQ and Yahoo! as well. Along with this update you also get “Wayyy better fring audio calls” and support for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab.

This is surely gonna heat up the competition with Skype and I can’t wait to see more killer features from both these companies. Search for it on the Android marketplace or go here for the QR code and download instructions. Don’t forget to report back with your results!
