Answers To Your Nexus 7 Questions
Before I start off, I apologize that this took so long. I’ve been quite busy for the last couple of weeks so I haven’t even had a lot of opportunity to play around with my new toy, but I think I’m ready to address all the questions I received.
Before I get into that though I’ll give you my first few thoughts on the device. I’m really enjoying the form factor. I’ve owned a smaller tablet before (the Nook Color) but I found that to be quite heavy. With the Nexus 7, I found that the weight and size were quite comfortable. For me, it is a little nicer than my 10.1″ Transformer for sitting on the couch and browsing. The 10 inchers just feel a little too large when I’m just sitting and browsing for the sake of browsing.
In terms of gaming and media, this tablet really holds its own. I’ve thrown game after game at it and I haven’t seen any slowdown. Even some of the heavier games like ShadowGun and Dead Trigger run without a hiccup. I’ve basically thrown every game that I’ve ever played at it and I haven’t seen any slowdowns.
Now to the questions:
1. Group E-mailing
At the moment there is no native method of sending group e-mails. Sadly you have to enter each address separately. In researching this question I did come across an app called Contacts GroupU that helps to add this functionality to your device. But instead of entering the GMail app, you enter their app to select the group. The only downside is that this is not compatible with tablets.
2. Build Issue
I haven’t noticed any problems with my device. I guess I got lucky?
3. NFC
I haven’t had any problems with NFC so far. I’ve been able to Beam sites and apps without any problems. I think Android Beam still has a ways to go. I’ve done some reading about Beaming other things and it seems that there are ways to do larger files but it requires additional apps to do so.
4. Annotation
I’ve tested out ezPDF and it works like a charm. I was easily able to annotate the PDF without any problems. And thanks to the Tegra 3 chip, everything ran very smoothly (I’ve noticed on my Transformer that I have some slow down). Handwriting apps worked fine but like most devices it’s sometimes a little bit behind and it’s difficult to be completely accurate. When it comes to handwriting or drawing on a device, the Galaxy Note and the S Pen still are the best I’ve used.
5. Lack of Flash
Well as we all know today Flash has been officially removed form the market. But you can still side load the app. Find the APK online and install it onto the device. Then download an additional browser (Firefox or Dolphin are both great) and you now have flash available again!
