Quickoffice Pro and Pro HD Reviewed: Office Documents on Android

By Android in Canada Editorial TeamUpdated

Why it mattered

The reviewer had long used handheld devices for office work, including a Palm with a folding keyboard, and saw Quickoffice as proof that Android devices could handle real work. At the time, many people still saw BlackBerry as the business phone.

What stood out

  • Layout and detail. The HD version looks well designed and the interface is easy to use.
  • Cloud access. Files in the cloud open as smoothly as local ones.
  • Reorganizing files. You can drag files and folders to rearrange them. The reviewer found this useful for filing documents quickly after creating them in Google Docs, where labels cannot be set while writing.
  • Sharing. Many share-to options.

Document and spreadsheet tools

The word view lets you choose fonts, format text, insert images and use long press to select text. The spreadsheet view offers function options and row and column controls. On the phone, pictures show but cannot be edited.

Limitations

  • Image placement and control could be better, for example cropping.
  • Only a limited set of cloud services was supported, and the reviewer wanted more.
  • On the phone, creating a new document means opening QuickWord first and then choosing New.
