Rumours Of An LG Nexus 5 Are Back

LG Nexus

2024 is over halfway through and we have still yet to get any concrete information about a new Nexus phone.  Rumours have been running all over the place all year long but nothing ever came of them.  Many, myself included, thought that the Moto X might just be that next Nexus device but obviously that didn’t turn out to be true.  Some still believe Motorola and Google are working on a Nexus branded phone that will come forth later this year but I’m leaning more towards LG as the manufacturer of the next Nexus.  The fact that LG isn’t working on a Google Play Edition of their G2 has lead many to speculate that they’re opting out because they’ll be making the next Nexus.  It’s a far stretch for sure but a possible theory nonetheless.

Today we’re getting additional support for the idea of an LG Nexus device from a site that has been fairly reliable in the past for leaks and information.  Tinhte.vn states that the next Nexus device, the Nexus 5, will feature the same 5.2″ display as the G2 and the same Snapdragon 800 processor.  It will have a very thin bezel like the G2 but the buttons won’t be on the back of the device.  The design is supposed to be reminiscent of the Nexus 4 which means they could be going with the glass front and back once again.

As with all Nexus devices, the price is going to be the big draw so hopefully if this all plays out, we’ll have a killer phone with an amazingly low price tag, just like we had with the Nexus 4.  Again, this is all just a rumour at this point but I’m buying into it, even if it’s just a little bit.  I can’t see them not making a new Nexus device this year and LG seems like a suitable candidate to make the device.

What do you guys think?  Are we going to be seeing an LG Nexus 5 later this year?
