Smart watches may be the wave of the future if we are to believe industry trends, and if not they will surely warrant a footnote. The Financial Times has reported that Google is working on a smart watch to compete with the rumored devices from Apple as well as Samsung.

With all of the recent hype surrounding Google Glass, wearable technology seems to be a focus for tech companies as of late. The rumored smart watch is said to be developed by Google’s Android outfit which has an impressive track record of creating quality hardware and software pairings.

A smart watch would definitely be less controversial or socially isolating than Google Glass has the potential to be and fit more easily into every day life, however we are only left to day dream about what it would actually do. While details on what a Google smart watch will  be capable of are non-existent at the moment we can guess that many of the features will be akin to the Pebble smart watch with tighter integration into the Android system itself.

Piling on to the smart watch rumor mill, LG is also believed to be developing wearable technology including a smart watch and even a Google Glass type device. My money would be on Google developing the biggest rival to the success an Apple smart watch is almost guaranteed to posses. But until we see some details it is purely bias and speculation on my part.

I’m curious to hear your thoughts on smart watches or wearable technology in general, is it something that excites you or is this the beginning of the end?
