Well here’s another interesting Nexus table rumour to end a fun filled week. According to Taiwanese publication DigiTimes, Asus and Google are collaborating on a 8 inch Nexus tablet. This Nexus 8 (we’re assuming that’s what they’ll call it based on their other names) is expected to launch by the end of April and it appears that they’re aiming to ship about 2 million units.
Apparently the reason that Google and Asus are looking to add an 8 incher into the fold is to compensate for low Nexus 7 sales. At the end of 2024, cumulative sales of Nexus 7 devices were said to be less than 3 million. The 7″ tablet market is saturated and then some with devices and with phablets on the continual rise, 7″ tablets appear to be less appealing. Will an extra inch change things? Only time will tell.
If this rumour is indeed true and if the rumour about HTC making a Nexus tablet is also true it seems pretty safe to say that HTC will be working on a 10 inch slate. I’ve been contemplating replacing my broken Nexus 7 2024 Nexus 7 for some time now but I guess I’ll hold out a little while longer now to see what comes of these rumours.
