Once again I come as the bearer of bad news in the world of updates. All of you LG Optimus 2x users, it looks like you’ve been left in the dust. Here’s what LG had to say on twitter:
“The Optimus 2X will not be receiving the ICS upgrade. The original upgrade announcement was a general statement issued from HQ.”
Very unfortunate for anyone with this device. The Optimus 2x was the first dual-core Android device in the world and one of the first to be brought to us here in Canada. As far as I know, Fido, Videotron and Wind still carry the device but it’s likely going to go the way of the dinosaur or at the very least become a much less popular option.
It’s puzzling to think it would be incapable of running well with it’s Tegra 2 chip, especially seeing that several tablets (and even some other phones) are running ICS and will likely run Jelly Bean on this chip. But as of right now, there’s no word on why the update has been canned. But if I read anything I’ll be sure to let you all know.
