Xperia Ion Now Available On Rogers

Remember how a couple of days ago I said the Xperia Ion would be here soon.  Well “soon” has arrive as the Xperia Ion is now available for purchase on the Rogers network.

The device is Sony’s first shot at an enabled LTE device  and an attempt to sway some people away from the powerhouses that are the Galaxy S III and HTC One X.

Here’s a refresher on the device specs: 4.6? HD reality display with a resolution of 1280×720, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 12MP camera, a 720p front-facing camera, LTE, HDMI and  DLNA connectivity, a 1900 mAh battery, 16GB internal memory (expands up to 32GB).

So how does this device stack up against the best?  Well only time will tell.  But the S3 Processor it’s running is old news (probably can’t even keep up with the Exynos on the Galaxy S II) and they’ve sadly launched it with Gingerbread instead of ICS.  And thus far, no news about Jelly Bean

It is priced quite a bit cheaper than the Galaxy S III or HTC One X, coming in at $49.99 on a 3-year contract, so maybe that will sway some people to it.  But in my opinion, if this is Sony’s only high-end device in the near future, they’ve really fallen behind.
