Samsung To Release An All-Metal Smartphone

Samsung sure did give us a surprise when its first premium-material smartphone, the Galaxy Alpha, got leaked back in August. The phone does comes with an aluminum frame but it all ends there as plastic is used for the battery door cover and remaining bezels. However, Samsung may just be planning on stepping up its game soon.

According to SamMobile, they have received word from a tipster indicating this new phone with codename SM-A500 will ditch the filmsy plastic battery door cover and go for a non-removable but full metal casing. It’s too bad nothing was said on it being a unibody build similar to the HTC One (M8) and of course the new iPhones, but at least it’s a step in a new direction for the Korean giant.

As for specs, the phone is still supposedly going to be classified as a mid-range device and it will probably come with a 5-inch 720p AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC, 8MP rear and 2MP front camera, 16 GB of internal storage with micro SD expansion available this time all powered by a 2330 mAh battery.

This is going to be an interesting development in the coming weeks for sure.
