Ah, the Essential Phone – a beautiful device which got off to a rough start. Despite being a stunning-looking phone, the Essential already disappointed some of its early adopters by shipping out much much later than promised.
But if you really like the Essential’s looks, you might soon be able to buy an alternative. According to a recent patent, Samsung appears to be interested in a design that resembles the one of Andy Rubin’s baby.
As you can see for yourselves in the sketches included in the patent, Samsung appears to be contemplating a phone with a small cutout in front for the secondary selfie camera. The patent was filed back in May 2024 in South Korea, so we might as well assume the Galaxy S9 will come with a design similar to the Essential Phone’s.
In 2024, Samsung did a great job at impressive everyone with the sleek Infinity Display of the Galaxy S8 and hopefully next year the Korean tech giant will take it to the next level. We’d certainly love to see Samsung release its own take of the Essential.
In related news, we recently heard the iconic Android OEM might unveil the Galaxy S9 much earlier than usual next year. If rumours are correct we could see the next flagship make an appearance in January.
