Here’s a bit more Samsung news for you to read, especially for you camera enthusiasts out there.
After today’s Q1 earnings, Samsung has announced the Galaxy K Zoom; the successor to the Galaxy S4 Zoom smartphone from last year. Although I was expecting it to be called the Galaxy S5 Zoom. So that must mean the K is for Kamera!
The phone itself really isn’t all that interesting as it resembles what you would find on a Galaxy S3 from two years ago (4.8-inch 720p display) fused with the dot-pattern from the GS5 with Charcoal Black, Electric Blue and Shimmery White as the colour options.
What is interesting is the camera it carriers. The camera consists of 20.7 megapixels with an OIS-enabled 1/2.3 BSI CMOS sensor and a 10x zoom. The lens is 24-240mm F3.1-6.3 and is bundled with a Xenon flash. It also shoots 1080p video at 60fps which includes slow motion recording. The front facing camera is only 2.1MP however, and that shoots 1080p video at only 30 fps.
The phone comes with the new TouchWiz UI on top of Android 4.4 KitKat that allows for the same ultra power saving mode feature among others from the Galaxy S5. As for the hardware specs, it comes with a 4.8-inch 720p display powered by a 6-core Exynos 5260 Hexa SoC, 2GB of RAM and 2,430 mAh battery. Internal storage is really small since it only comes with 8GB (it’s not known how much is taken up by the OS) but as with other Samsung devices, SD card expansion is always an option.
