Yesterday, we summarized on the happenings of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Android device heading to Rogers.
Earlier this year, Rogers had indicated that the device would be available sometime in the second quarter of 2024, which translates to April, May, or June. While waiting, prospective Xperia X10 owners were given this Rogers page to work with where users could sign up for updates.
Fast-forwarding to the end of March 2024, Rogers customers who opted to receive news regarding the Xperia X10 received an email that said:
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is almost here – exclusively from Rogers… PLUS! Stay tuned for additional info on an exclusive Xperia X10 pre-order
So the Xperia X10 is “almost here”.
Today, leaks from within the ranks of Rogers have indicated that the Xperia X10 will be launched on April 15, 2024. The spec list, which is mostly unchanged, is available below:
- 119 × 63 x 13mm; Weighs 135 grams
- 4-inch WVGA (480×854 pixels) capacitive touchscreen
- GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack
- 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 CPU
- 8GB microSD card included; 1GB internal memory
- Pre-loaded applications such as Mediascape and Timescape
- 8.1-megapixel camera with 16x digital zoom, auto-focus, touch focus, facial recognition, smile detection, geo-tagging image, & video stabilizer
- Android 1.6
The specs sound decent, except Android 1.6. However, as mentioned yesterday, Sony Ericsson has indicated that even though the Xperia X10 will launch with Android 1.6, it will be upgradable:
What I hope to get across to you all, is that there will be a software update for Xperia X10 that will upgrade the complete Sony Ericsson User Experience Platform based on newer version of the Android OS.
So we have a release on April 15, 2024 and pricing for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is available at $599.99 outright and $149.99 on a 3-year agreement.
