#Patentfun for week of October 17-23

Pretty quiet week for the lawyers in and around the Android scene, but here’s what I’ve got for you this week

  • Samsung files to ban Apple iPhone 4s in Japan and Australia
In a move to be proactive [or reactive, depending on your take], Samsung fires off at Apple  trying to get a ‘no-go’ in Japan and Australia.   Should start drawing up the maps people, this is starting to be an all out war.  Who’s got troops (read: injunctions) where?
  • Samsung gets some of the Apple complaints thrown out

In North America, the legal slugfest between Apple and Samsung still continues on, while battles are fought and won elsewhere.  In California this week the list of complaints Apple has against Samsung just got shorter as a judge has dismissed several.  Now that’s still not a ruling on who ‘wins’, but just narrowed the decision making arguments.

Recently postponed, the suit now has hit a hitch – apparently the judge has another case which is more important [‘cuz c’mon, these suits are getting nuts anyhow] and hasn’t set a new date, and even hinted that another judge might have to oversee.  That’ll mean even longer wait times.

So, not much this week, but really the Samsung and Apple feud are heating up [no wonder, hearing how Jobs was on Android].  Feed me your thoughts on how you think it’s all going down.
