OnePlus has officially launched their 3rd flagship smartphone for this year and as expected, it’s called the OnePlus 3.
The company held their launch event in VR today and announced that the phone will be priced at $519 CAD ($399 USD), and will be available for purchase later today at OnePlus.net. The best thing about it? There’s no invite system to worry about! The phone will be ready to purchase when you click to buy.
Now on to the phone itself. It does indeed resemble the likes of the Galaxy S7, HTC 10 and yes, even Apple’s newer generation of iPhones. The OnePlus 3 features an aluminium unibody design with silver and gold colour options with a thickness of only 7.35mm.
As for the specs, there’s no surprise here as they were leaked so many times just this past month alone. It will sport a Snapdragon 820 SoC, 5.5-inch 1080p “Optic AMOLED display”, 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of non-expandable internal storage. It also features a fingerprint scanner which doubles as a home button.
As for the camera, it comes with a 16MP rear camera with both OIS and EIS technologies and an 8MP front facing camera.
While the OnePlus 3’s battery is a mere 3000 mAh, the company has included a Dash charging (quick charging) technology which gives the phone over a 60% charge in only 30 minutes. The company claims this should last the average user for about a day. The phone runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with their custom Oxygen OS ROM.
