All New HTC One Official Review Leaked!

m8_review

You all should know by now that the All New HTC One (M8) is finally going to be revealed (and even launched in some areas) on March 25th, after months of leaks and speculation.

But today, German websites Notebookinfo.de and Tabletblog.de, accidentally posted a hands-on as well as a full review video of the phone (both of which have now been removed) describing all the features of the phone. I can safely say that this is the biggest and most detailed HTC M8 leak yet that pretty much explains everything about the phone.

According to Notebookinfo, the All New HTC One confirms many specs we’ve already covered before.

The specs are as follows: 5-inch 1080p display with swipe/double tap to wake functionality, weighs 160 grams, on-screen buttons, Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6 UI, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC clocked at 2.3 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, 16/32 GB of internal storage with SD Card expansion. It also comes with an IR blaster, better but non-symmetrical BoomSound stereo speakers, nanoSIM slot, more LTE frequency support as well as NFC, GLONASS/GPS and 802.11ac WiFi.

Now for the camera. Despite the previous leaks, the ultrapixel camera on the back is technically 4.1 megapixels (a mere 0.1MP increase from last year) but HTC is apparently touting better performance and quality than the 12MP and 16MP cameras found on competing flagship smartphones. The second rear camera, above the ultrapixel camera, was rumored to provide depth in photos, and those rumors were in fact correct. Dual-tone dual-LED flash is also present and it functions like the one found on Apple’s iPhone 5S.

The second rear camera is only 2MP but it brings 3D effects and refocusing capabilities similar to the Lytro camera. Additionally, the front facing camera is upgraded to 5MP.

Now for the battery. The phone sports a 2600 mAh battery which to me sounds quite tiny compared to the 2800 mAh battery in the Galaxy S5 and 3200 mAh in the Xperia Z2. But HTC has improvised on the software side by bringing its own power saving mode that squeezes 15 hours of phone use with only 5% battery left but the phone is limited to only receive phone calls. It also supposedly allows up to 20 hours of talk time and a 496 hours of standby time.

Here’s the mirror of the video showing the phone in all its glory:

So that’s pretty much all we can say about the phone at the moment until the launch event this Tuesday. The event is going to be livestreamed as well so stay tuned!
