You Can Now Disable the Bixby Button on (Some) Galaxy S8/S+ Units
Good news users of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ who have been hating on the Bixby button.
Quite a few owners of the two phones have taken to the forums (and everywhere else) to complain about accidentally pushing the Bixby dedicated button and launching the virtual assistant without actually meaning to. Well, Samsung has finally decided it is time to end these woes.
So the Korean tech giant started rolling out an update to its AI-infused assistant that adds a toggle within the Bixby app. This allows users to disable the functionality of the button thus preventing it to launch Bixby home when touched.
However, you’ll still be able to launch Bixby Voice by pressing and holding the said button or to access Bixby Home by swiping left from the home screen.
Interestingly, Sam Mobile notes the update seems to be adding this option randomly, as some devices are seeing the toggle while others aren’t. So if you too have a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ by your side and you can’t see the option so far, don’t get alarmed. It might take some time before it becomes available to all Galaxy S8 units.
Have you ever found yourself wishing the Bixby dedicated button didn’t exist? Luckily you won’t have to entertain that thought for much longer.
