BlackBerry Aurora Is the Company’s First Dual-SIM Android Smartphone

Once king of the smartphone market, BlackBerry is struggling to remain relevant in today’s cut throat market. You might not know this, but Indonesia is one of the major markets for the Canadian company, so BlackBerry has decided to launch its first dual-SIM device in the country.

The phone is called BlackBerry Aurora and is a mid-range affair. It arrives in the wild with a 5.5-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and harnesses life from a Snapdragon 425 chipset which is a 1.4GHz quad-core processor.

Even if it’s a mid-ranger, the phone takes advantage of hefty 4GB of RAM (remember flagships like the Galaxy S7 edge come with 4GB of RAM too) and 32GB of expandable storage.

The phone also carries a 13MP mains snapper and an 8MP selfie camera. It will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat onboard like any 2024 device should. Naturally the Aurora is pre-loaded with the BlackBerry Hub. Interestingly enough the phone does not feature a fingerprint scanner, but it’s deemed a highly secure device nevertheless thanks to the advanced security app onboard.

The BlackBerry Aurora lives off a 3,000 mAh battery and should become available in Gold, Black and Silver. It’s priced around $352 CAD. It starts shipping on March 13.

The phone is currently available in Indonesia, but who knows maybe one day BlackBerry will be offering it in Canada too.
