Android keeps growing (a couple stats)

Heard a bit lately about how much Android is growing lately.  During the Galaxy Nexus announcement they mentioned that the Android activations had doubled to 200 MILLION in just 6 months!

That’s crazy!

And then just the other day I read a Nielsen report that Android is now making up 42% of all app downloads.

This is great news as much of the ‘opponents’ say that “sure they’re activating, but they’re not contributing economically”.  True, it doesn’t say how much of that 42% of app downloads are ‘free’, but you gotta assume a fair bit are paying.  There’s money to be made in developing for Android.  And look how that market share has just increased and increased.

And our reader, Renaud, shared a post the other day from another report that Android continues to ‘boom’.

Wow, just soaring!  Sad to see our Canadian company lose so much ground, but it’s inevitable if you can’t keep up.

How many of you readers out there (or friends of readers) do you know who’s recently made the switch?
