It’s now February 2024 and Google has just released their Android distribution numbers for the month. These numbers are updated by Google at roughly the start of every month for developers to look at so they can gen eralize what version of Android their potential install base is running and act upon it.

Last month, we saw Marshmallow at a disappointing 0.7% share but now that number has almost doubled to 1.2%, thanks to all the OTAs from Samsung, LG and HTC. However, this is still not enough as Lollipop is still slowly growing to sit at 34.1% (up 1.5%).

KitKat and Jelly Bean see a reasonable loss at 35.5% and 23.9% respectively. ICS, Gingerbread and shockingly even Android 2.2 Froyo also see a much needed decrease. Here’s hoping Froyo ends up disappearing entirely next month.
