Android 4.4.3 Is Now In Testing, Should Fix Nexus 5 Wakelock Issue

If you are the proprietor of a Nexus 5 device and have observed a decline in battery life due to the “mm-qcamera-daemon” wakelock, then we have encouraging news. Google acknowledged the issue in their Issue Tracker a few weeks ago. Two sources have subsequently confirmed that the new build, which contains several bug fixes, including the aforementioned one, will ship as Android 4.3.3 in the coming weeks.

TuttoAndroid.net identified the UserAgent of a Nexus 5 device running Android 4.4.3 with build KTU72B. @LlabTooFer, a source known for his accuracy on HTC-related news, previously known as football4pda on XDA-Developers, also tweeted about the same build number and confirmed it is currently in the testing stage.

It was previously established that Skype was responsible for a battery-draining bug that originated from the application’s tendency to poll the camera on a regular basis. However, this issue has now been rectified through the release of an update that was made available last week. Those utilizing devices that are not Nexus models and are experiencing the aforementioned issue must await the release of the 4.4.3 update by the device manufacturer.
