Galaxy S3 Leaked Firmware: S-Voice and Media Pack Explained

By Android in Canada Editorial TeamUpdated

What came out of the firmware

The Galaxy S3 was one of the most hyped phones of its time, and the leaked firmware was being picked apart in detail. Earlier posts on the site had already covered S-Suggest and S-Voice, the voice assistant.

Why S-Voice stopped working

Samsung noticed the leaked S-Voice app and shut down its connection to the servers. Users then saw a Network Error message whenever they tried to use it.

The workarounds that circulated

  • A revised S-Voice app went around and worked for some people, including the author.
  • Otherwise, a rooted phone could have the model entry in the build.prop file changed to read i9300, the Galaxy S3 model, to make it work.

Be cautious here. Installing leaked apps from unofficial sources and editing system files on a rooted phone can break the device, void warranties and expose it to security risks. This page does not offer any files and does not recommend this route.

The media pack

Part of the media pack was also found. It included several audio sounds, two live wallpapers and a static wallpaper. The author shared some of these at the time.

Status today

The Galaxy S3 is long retired, and the finished software replaced all of these leaked builds. Treat this post as history.
