eeePad Availability

Well, today’s the day… apparently.

April 26th was the day that the Asus eeepad was available across North America.

I’ve been keeping my eye on the tablets that have come out, and wisely waited until after the Streak and the Tab were out to see what would be rolling along the Android line.  There have been quite a lot of ‘goodies’ out there to choose from.  Now in Canada we’re a little more limited, but when I spied the eeePad I was hooked (I was an early adopter of the eeePC years ago).

What really intrigued me was the fact that the release of the US version fell in at the same time as the Canadian as well.  Now that’s a rarity indeed.

So I waited and watched to see where you could pre-order… and even today, the day it’s out, I’m still left wondering how to get my hands on it.  From some of my research around the interwebs I’ve composed the following chart. [do note that when you search on a site, there’s a big difference between “eeepad” and “eee pad”… odd]

Outlet Availability
Staples.ca 16GB http://goo.gl/mtLjg

$399.94 – says out of stock, but no option to order

ncix.com 16GB http://goo.gl/KDhTi

$399.99 – says back order

32GB http://goo.gl/djHRb

$499.99 – says back order

Visions.ca site is down
Canada Computers 16GB http://goo.gl/H5PUu

$399.99 – backorder

Memory Express says none found
Futureshop.ca says none found
Amazon.ca 16GB http://goo.gl/AHdGw

$399.99 – temporarily out of stock

Bestbuy.ca none found

Well there you have it.  A slew of stores, but only a couple that actually list it, and none stating any in stock.  Maybe they disappeared as quickly as they appeared.  [anybody out there grab one?]

Now, the debate is do I buy the 32GB … I mean it’s only $100 more.  I could sell off a couple of my eeePCs for that.
