The New Budget King Is Here – The Moto G (2024)
Today was Motorla’s day and they didn’t disappoint. They announced not one, not two, but three new devices and all of sudden their portfolio is looking pretty nice. Let’s start with the Moto G, which was probably the most heavily leaked of the three new devices. First, the specs:
- 5″ 720p Display
- Quad-Core Snapdragon 410
- 1GB RAM
- 8GB Internal Storage
- microSD Card Slot
- 13MP Camera
- 5MP Front Facing Camera
- 2470 mAh Battery
- IPX7 Water Resistant Rating
- Android 5.1.1
None of these specs should really surprise us as they were leaked again and again leading up to the event. We should note that there is a second variant of the Moto G that features 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage but it doesn’t seem that that guy is coming our way. Nevertheless, this a pretty solid mid-range phone and a definite improvement over the second gen Moto G with a boost in camera quality, battery life and durability.
In terms of design, the Moto G very much resembles previous iterations with just minor design changes here and there. Swappable rear shells are on the docket once again so you can customize your phone to suit your unique style. As previously mentioned, Motorola boosted things in the durability department and the 3rd Gen Moto G can handle submersion up to 3 feet for 30 minutes!
Now let’s talk price as that has always been one of the key selling points of the Moto G. The Moto G 3rd Gen will be available on Bell, Telus, Virgin and Koodo beginning July 31 for just $199 outright! Contract pricing is currently unknown but you’d have to think that this is going to be a $0 phone or very close to. WIND is also expected to add the Moto G to their line up but they won’t be getting the device till a few weeks after the aforementioned carriers.
So what do you guys think of the new Moto G? Is it still the best bang for buck on the market?
