Sony Announce Xperia T, V and J

As all the rumours had suggested, Sony has announced today the release of three new smartphones and one new Tablet. I have to say, these arc-inspired phones are some of the most beautiful out there.

Xperia T

The long rumoured LT30, codename mint, will be released as their global flagship under the title Xperia T. It will sport a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 (MSM8260-A) chip and Adreno 225 GPU. The screen will be 4.55 inch 1280 x 720 HD Reality Display powered by Sony’s Bravia Engine covered by a scratch resistant glass. It will come with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, and for all you digital hoarders, will be able to support microSD up to 32GB.

The highlight of the Xperia T comes in the 13 MP camera with 1080p video recording built on their Exmor R sensors. Dedicated camera button will allow you to snap a photo instantly. Giving the device life, you will find a non-removable 1850 mAh battery. One thing to note is that this device will not come with LTE functionality, but with HSPA+, and will only have Bluetooth 3.1 functionality.

It will come in black, silver and white.

Xperia V

Coming in at the mid-range is the Xperia V, with a 4.3 inch 1280 x 720 screen and a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 (MSM8960) dual core processor. The GPU will also be an Adreno 225. It will come with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of flash memory, with option to increase via microSD card.

The camera will also be a 13 MP Exmor R sensor, which Sony seems to be pushing heavily (they do have some of the best sensors on the market).

The most interesting feature of this phone is that it will be water and dust resistant, with IP55 and IP57 compliance, so you won’t have to worry about using your phone around water. It will also be Sony’s only global phone with LTE compatibility. Powering the phone will be a 1750 mAh removable battery. Unlike the Xperia T, this phone will come with full Bluetooth 4.0 compatibility. This little guy seems to pack quite a wallop and does distinguish itself from many of the other smartphones out there.

The Xperia T will come in black, pink and white.

Xperia J

The budget friendly phone, the Xperia J, will come with a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM7227A and Adreno 200 GPU. The screen will be a 4.0 inch 854×480 FWVGA and will be protected by Gorilla Glass. It will come with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of Flash memory, expandable with a MicroSD card.

The camera will be a 5 MP shooter with 4x digital zoom. Not much, but for a budget phone, you can’t expect the best. It will come with a 1750 mAh removable battery and will run on HSDPA networks.

It will come in black, gold, pink and white.

All phones will be released with ICS, with the T and V getting updates to Jelly Bean shortly after launch, and will have an updated suite of apps. The more powerful phones will come with Sony’s small apps, which allow you to have dedicated mini apps pop up above whatever you are working on. The Xperia T and V will both come with built-in NFC, that can be used for various things, like transferring content, controlling NFC enabled speakers and setting up profiles.

I have included a breakdown of all the phones and their features below. There is no word yet on what carrier is getting what phone in Canada.

Update: Sony Canada has confirmed that the Xperia T will be gracing our cold and desolate lands.

Which phone are you most excited about?
