Samsung Galaxy S6 To Sport A 2600 mAh Non-Removable Battery
We’re just under two weeks away from Samsung’s big announcement and although we have already heard a lot of rumours regarding the Galaxy S6, new rumours are still pouring in. This latest story will be of particular interest to perspective buyers as it addresses one of the biggest selling points for devices these days, battery life.
According to a new report from Korea, Samsung will not be upping the battery size with their next flagship which is generally the norm. No no no. They’re not even going to be keeping it the same size! According to this new report, Samsung is going smaller in regards to battery size with their next flagship device. And if that weren’t enough bad news, the S6 may feature a non-removable battery!
While this is definitely not the best news for hopeful buyers there is kind of a silver lining. As you may have heard, Samsung has reportedly ditched Qualcomm in favour of their own home made Exynos chipset with the S6, The Exynos 7420, which is what many believe will power the S6, is built on a 14nm process as opposed to the 20nm structure others still use. This newer technology is said to diminish power consumption by 30%-35% so the overall difference could be negligible. However, the S6 is also expected to sport a higher resolution display which will draw more power so it’ll be interesting to see how this all balances out.
My personal guess is that the overall battery life will be improved on the Galaxy S6. I just can’t see Samsung taking a step back in this regard given the growth they’ve achieved over the last couple of years. Nevertheless, seeing a smaller number next to the battery size will undoubtedly deter some prospective buyers, particularly us Android fans who memorize specs sheeets like they’re going out of style.
