Nexus 5 Gets Torn Apart On Video By iFixit
When looking at getting a new phone most of us don’t worry too much about the ease or repairability for the phone. Most of us will never attempt to repair a broken phone but to those who enjoy taking apart and putting back together we’ve got a nice little video for you.
iFixit has torn apart the newly released Nexus 5 and has put together a 15 step process of how to disassemble your phone just in case you ever need to do that. Overall, disassembling the device appears to be fairly straight forward as it’s mainly held together by plastic clips. However, the one piece that most often needs fixing, the screen, is not something easy to fix.
“The glass and LCD are fused to the display frame. Fixing broken glass will be either expensive or very difficult.”
That’s definitely a bit of a bummer to hear. So it might be a good idea to get a case/screen protector that will really shield your screen from any mishaps. Failure to do so may result in needing a brand new device it seems.
Overall the Nexus 5 scores a 8/10 for its repairability store but again, it’s got one glaring problem.
