LG G2′s Camera Put To The Test In Stratospheric Baloon
LG announced the G2 almost three weeks ago, and we’re loving it. The latest flagship has everything to be a top seller, killer looks, stellar specs and some awesome software features. Truthfully, the only thing it still needs to be a top-selling device like the Galaxy S4 is good publicity and that’s exactly what LG has been doing since before the launch event.
Today, LG released its latest publicity stunt, sending the G2 to space to film Earth. This difficult endeavour took 45 days of preparation and resulted in 58 hours of astonishing video. The balloon with the phone flew upwards of 18 miles, withstanding temperatures of -58ºF/-50ºC, and, despite the shakiness and low-light conditions, the G2 was able to get amazing footage.
The video quality is due to the G2′s 13MP camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) which enables the phone to shoot smooth video while the balloon shakes from wind and pressure changes. The G2′s camera also shines in low light conditions. One look at the footage from the stratosphere and you can see the phone will handle low light scenarios quite well. Nonetheless, the Earth’s atmosphere is quite bright, so we would love to see some real-life scenarios to really test the camera’s quality.
All things considered, the video shot with the G2 is simply amazing, and given the conditions the phone had to withstand, while producing such high quality video makes this an impressive accomplishment. For that matter I can’t wait to get some time with this phone to test that camera out, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. You can see the video footage below and take your own conclusions, don’t forget to leave your feedback.
