The LG G2 Mini Is Official

LG G2 Mini

Yet another Mini has come to market.  LG officially announced their G2 Mini yesterday but this Mini isn’t quite so… well Mini.  The G2 Mini comes with a 4.7″ IPS display which, while smaller than most flagship devices, was considered a gargantuan just a couple of years back and is still fairly large even in today’s super-sized market.  Here are the full specs:

  • Chipset: 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Quad-Core MSM8926 (LTE) / MSM8226 (3G)
  •                          1.7GHz Nvidia Quad Core Tegra 4i (LATAM LTE version)
  • Display: 4.7-inch qHD IPS (960 x 540)
  • Memory: 8GB eMMC / 1GB RAM / SD Card Slot
  • Camera: Rear 8.0MP / 13.0MP (LATAMLTE version) / Front 1.3MP
  • Battery: 2,440mAh (removable)
  • Operating System: Android 4.4 KitKat
  • Size: 129.6 x 66.0 x 9.8mm
  • Weight: 121g
  • Network: Cat. 4 / Cat. 3 (LATAM), HSPA+ 21Mbps (3G)
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), A-GPS, NFC (4G LTE version only)
  • Colors: Titan Black, Lunar White, Red, Gold (depending on region)
  • Other: Knock CodeTM, Plug & Pop, Guest Mode, Clip Tray, Quick Window, etc.

As you can see from the measurements, the phone is still fairly compact considering the size of the screen.  It’s only a tad larger than other Mini’s with smaller screens so good on LG for that accomplishment.  The rest of the specs are definitely respectable but not near the level of the big brother G2.  The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact remains the only true high-end compact device on the market.

In terms of availability, North America was not listed in the press release so as it stands right now, we will not be seeing this device.  Of course, this can always change and if it does we’ll be sure to let you guys know!
