Huawei Honor 9 to Launch on June 27

Huawei’s worthy middle-ranger, the Honor 8 which is also available for purchase in Canada might soon get a replacement.

Huawei has sent out invites for an event to be hosted in Berlin on June 27, during which it is speculated the company will unveil the new Honor 9.

The invite doesn’t specifically mention the Honor 9, it just asks fans to join and see how Honor lights up the night with the “light catcher” – a possible reference to the photographic capabilities of the upcoming phone.

The rumour mill indicates the Honor 9 could arrive with a dual-camera setup similar to the one found on the Huawei Mate9. This means the phone might arrive with a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and a regular 12-megapixel shooter.

Other alleged specifications include a Kirin 960 chipset, 4GB or 6GB of RAM and Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with Huawei’s EMUI 5 on top. If the information pans out, it looks like the Honor 9 will more of a flagship product than an upper-to-middle ranger, as its predecessor, the Honor 8 was.

If you don’t want to wait for the Honor 9, you can grab the Honor 8 from retail locations like Best Buy for $399.95 CAD.
