Galaxy Nexus Volume Glitch, Should We Worry?

This story has been popping up all over the net it seems. The Galaxy Nexus suffers from a volume glitch, you can see the glitch in action in the following video

Following widespread reports of a volume-related issue on the recently released (in the U.K.) Galaxy Nexus, Google and Samsung have acknowledged the existence of the issue.  Google also quickly promised to whip up a fix to resolve the volume bug.

Although giving no exact date, Google promised an update as soon as possible to Galaxy Nexus users to resolve this problem. Samsung has also acknowledged the problem and has temporarily held off further shipments of the Galaxy Nexus to retailers until Samsung sorts out the issue.

Several knowledgeable folks have looked into the matter and observed the issue to be springing from the use of the 2G frequency at 900 MHz, which is a commonly used band in Europe.

This is clearly a pretty big glitch, as it will compromise the full enjoyment of your new phone you’ve been waiting for. The question is will this effect Canadians?

Based on what the ‘knowledgeable folks’ who looked in to it, said it was to do with the 900 MHz frequency. Here in Canada, we use 850 MHz for our 3G/HSPA. Hopefully this makes Canadians exempt from this issue, but obviously until the Galaxy Nexus is released by our major carriers, we may not know for sure.

Hopefully these ‘knowledgeable folks’ know exactly what they are talking about, and this will only effect the 900 MHz and not ours too.
