Archos To Bring Some Super Affordable Smartphones To Market
Archos is definitely trying to make some in-roads in a very crowded Android market. A week or so ago they announced a new series of high-end affordable tablets that will launch as part of their new platinum series and today it looks like they’ve decided to throw a trio smart phones into the mix as well. Here’s some specs for the three:
Archos 48 Platinum
- 4.8″ 1280×800 IPS Display
- 1.7GHz Quad-Core MediaTek Processor
- Android 4.1
- 249 Euros or 340 CAD
Archos 52 Titanium
- 5.2″ 480×800 Display
- 1.2 GHz Dual-Core Processor
- 512 MB RAM
- Android 4.0
Archos 35 Carbon
- 3.5″ 320×480 Display
- 1GHz Single-Core Processor
- 512MB RAM
- 512MB Internal Storage
- Micro-SD Card Slot
- Android 4.0
- 90 Euros or $120 CAD
The picture above is supposedly the 48 Platinum and as you can see it looks a lot like the Galaxy S III. In my opinion, it looks exactly like a Galaxy S II which makes me think that that’s just some poorly photo-shopped concept that somebody put together but you never know.
These devices obviously aren’t going to win any awards in terms of pure performance but if these reported prices end up being true, they’re definitely going to be worth a consideration for people looking for the best bang for buck.
