Android 5.1 Lollipop To Come February 2024
It was only last month when I did a post on Google developing LollipopMR1, and it seems release rumours have finally started to follow through. It’s going to be called Android 5.1.
According to AndroidPit, they have received word from a source indicating the estimated release period for the Android 5.1 update and it’s expected around the end of February. The site has posted alleged fixes and features coming in the update and they are as follows:
- Silent mode added after missing on Android 5.0
- General improvements in system stability
- Improved RAM management
- Fixes for sudden app closures
- Improved battery management
- Excessive consumption of network devices when used Wi-Fi fixed
- Issues with wireless connections fixed
- Problems with Okay Google function solved
- Notifications problems solved
- Some sound problems experience by certain devices fixed
- Other improvements and changes
- Changes in the Material Design color palette
I find this changelog not suitable for a whole new Android version, as it really is more of a bugfix release, rather than a feature release. However, there could be some features not listed in the changelog but we’ll have to wait longer to find out.
Meanwhile, Android 5.0.1 has started to rollout to all Nexus device now and possibly Moto devices as well, including the Moto X, G, and E.
