The KitKat revolution is underway! HTC and Motorola have both already detailed some plans to bring Android 4.4 to their devices and now it’s Sony’s turn, well kind of. Sony posted on their blog their plans to bring Android 4.3 to various devices starting next month. These devices include the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR,Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1. Some device will actually be jumping software version to Android 4.3 include the Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V.
In terms of bringing Android 4.4 to devices, their plans are rather vague. They do promise that the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra, and Xperia Z1 will be the first devices to get the bump to KitKat but no time frame was given. They simply say to “stay tuned” and check up on their social news rooms for all the latest news.
While it’s not the best of news, its news nonetheless. And to Sony’s credit, they have been doing a better job with updates lately so I don’t imagine the KitKat update will take too long but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
