After a lot of back and forth regarding the Desire HD upgrade, it is now confirmed that it will not be receiving the update to bring the device to Ice Cream Sandwich.
And just to clear everything up, it’s not Telus’ fault as many had speculated earlier on. The ultimate decision came from HTC. Here’s a statement from them:
“After extensive testing, we’ve determined that the current version of HTC Sense with Android provides customers with the best experience on the HTC Desire HD. When we consider new versions of software, we weigh a number of factors, but ultimately the customer experience on the product is the deciding factor. We apologize for any confusion this change may have caused our customers.”
Disappointing news for sure. My guess is that the device couldn’t handle ICS with Sense, not ICS. Which again raises the questions of OEM skins. What do you think? Do you guys love sense more than updates?
