So, I just posted about the Nexus 4/10 availability tomorrow… and it looks like a Googler from Germany shed some light on the timing of availability.
That being said, along with the devices, it also marks the release of Android 4.2. It shouldn’t be long before they release the code to AOSP, and then it will make its way around as flashable zips and for custom ROMs etc…
Despite the release, there are still tons of devices on Gingerbread, waiting for an Ice Cream treat, let alone keeping track of which will get the Jelly Bean update. This was a bit of our conversation point for our Friday Hangout.
One item I haven’t seen an update for in a while is my ol’ trusty TF101, or as some call it “the OG Transformer”.
There really hasn’t been much of a peep from Asus on it. They originally said it should, then it was “we’re looking into it”, etc… no definitive answer as of yet. Which, I’m oddly okay with. It’s starting to show its age, and although the 4.1 update breathed new life into the Galaxy Nexus… it may not be the same defibrillator jolt for the tablet. I’m still hoping though.
I found this article some time ago about a potential JB release. I waited to see if anything came… and sadly nothing that I’ve heard of since. Albeit, a lot of rumour and HEAVY discussions on the various forums.
I believe this might make it the oldest device to potentially receive this update.
What’s your take? Do you have one? Are you planning on the official update, or have you rooted and are waiting for a custom ROM?
