Google Play Edition One And S4 Getting 4.3

Google Play One S4

The Google Play Edition phones have yet to make their way to Canada; however, our US neighbours who are pocketing one of these devices should find a nice little surprise on their device today.  According to reports, Android 4.3 has begun to roll out to the Google Play Edition HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4.

Android 4.3 just began to roll out on Nexus devices last week so it’s nice to see that these Google Play Edition phones are in fact getting their updates in a very speedy manner.  It definitely bodes well for future Google Play Edition devices, assuming they’ll acutally make them available outside of the US.

Now, I know some of you out there are still waiting for your Nexus devices to get your update and I definitely feel you pain but sit tight.  Jean-Baptiste Quéru, one of the head guys over at Google, posted an explanation to the slow roll out on his Google+ page the other day.  In his explanation, he states that they do a slow roll out to help identify any possible bugs that may not have been caught through the testing phase.  By starting the roll out slow, it limits the number of affected devices if any bugs do surface.

I know it’s not the best explanation but at least its something.
