So those of you who have managed to get their hands on an Asus Transformer Prime, might be asking the question “okie, now how to I root this thing?” I have found an easy guide for you to try out.
If you have already did the OTA update to the latest OS 9.4.2.11, you’re still safe. This tool has been updated to work with it.
A developer by the name of -viperboy- has made this tool of our pleasure. Here’s a how to guide.
Requirements:
- The viperMOD Prime Time one-click root tool. Download the tool for Windows or for Linux.
- Ensure that USB Debugging has been enabled on your tablet. You can do this through Settings > Developer Options.
- Ensure that your tablet has a charge of at least 70%, to prevent it from shutting off in the middle of the rooting process.
Step By Step Guide: Don’t skip steps!
- Begin by downloading the viperMod Prime Time root tool onto your computer found above.
- Extract the contents of the viperMod Prime Time root tool ZIP file.
- Kill Asus Sync and Splashtop.
- Connect your tablet to the computer.
- Make sure you install the device drivers located inside of the ZIP file. (If you can already adb into your device, then you do not need to install the drivers.)
- If you are on Linux, you may need to do “chmod a+x /path/to/primetime/primetime.sh” (without the quotes).
- Run PrimeTime.exe. You will see a command line prompt. (On Linux, run the “primetime.sh” script.)
- Type 1 to start rooting your device.
- Once you’re done, install the OTA Root Keeper from the Android Market.
Done!
You’re now rooted and ready to enjoy the true potential of your Asus Transformer Prime.
This is one of the easiest methods currently available. If you get stock or lost trying to figure this out, I suggest dusting your hands off and walking away, or get a friend to do it for you. Mistakes made during the rooting process can and often result in brick phones/tablets, and can often cause a world war. That being said, this is a total Flash at your own risk situation.
Good luck guys! if you have issues and want to learn more, I suggest hitting up XDA, they have a solution for nearly any problem.
