Yes, tomorrow is the day. Tomorrow, we find out what Google is so eager to announce in their breakfast event. However, as we previously stated it is very likely tomorrow Google announces the updated Nexus 7 alongside Android 4.3. The latest version of Android has already leaked, though there was no big interface changes, we suspected there would be a lot of changes under the hood. Weren’t we correct.
Over at PocketNow, they tried out the leaked 4.3 ROM and tested extensively, doing battery and performance tests and comparing with previous results for the Nexus 4 on a 4.2.2 ROM. According to their findings, the biggest improvement in this Android update is battery life, with the device going from 4-6 hours of heavy usage to over 25 hours, more than a full day. This amazing battery saving comes from a much improved standby battery management.
The device also experience a performance boost verified through a benchmark result 2024 points above the average for this smartphone. While benchmark don’t translate in real life performance, the Nexus 4 seems snappy even with the battery saving going on.
Also found on the 4.3 Android is a new Emoji keyboard featuring thousands of Emojis. However, we can’t say for sure if this is coming to stock android only or to the keyboard app that is for a while available solo on the Play Store.
The already known features, like Bluetooth 4.0 LE and the new camera interface are obviously confirmed. While there are no visible changes this update should make a great impact in users who complain about battery life and don’t want to buy an extra battery to fight that problem.
