Android Distribution Numbers Out For August, Marshmallow Rises To 15.2%

It’s now the 2nd of August and Google was pretty quick to release their updated Android distribution numbers. These numbers are updated by Google at roughly the start of every month for developers to look at so they can generalize what version of Android their potential install base is running and act upon it.

After seeing a massive jump last month, Android 6.0 Marshmallow growth has slowed to 1.6% this month to sit at 15.2%. Android 5.1 Lollipop also saw a rise strangely of only 0.4% to 21.4%. It’s good to see 6.0 finally overtaking 5.0 after less than a year since its release. Now for the rest, they all saw their decline respectively expect for Froyo, staying at 0.1%. Again.

With the release of Android 7.0 around the corner, it’ll be interesting to see how it affects the distribution next month.
