Android App Updates: Skype, Netflix and Box
Box
The Box update felt simpler and a bit classier than Dropbox, according to the author. It was a cloud storage app.
Skype
The Skype update brought better video calling. The author hoped it would also run more reliably on an Asus tablet.
Netflix
This came shortly after another well-received Netflix update. The new version added compatibility with CyanogenMod, a popular custom ROM.
The installation error
An error appeared for both Skype and Netflix even though there was enough free storage. Normally a reboot cleared such errors, but not this time. The same thing had happened before with a golf game and was fixed only when the developer released a later update aimed at the Galaxy Captivate.
What to try for update errors
- Confirm there is enough free storage.
- Restart the phone and retry.
- Wait for a newer app version if the problem remains.
Frequently asked questions
What was new in Netflix?
Compatibility with CyanogenMod.
Was it a storage problem?
The author had enough space, so the error was not caused by that.
How was a similar error fixed before?
By waiting for a developer update that addressed the issue directly.
