TouchRetouch App – want to replace photoshop? [Review]
I’ve seen a fair bit of a trend with the types of people, like myself, who like Android-y things, also like other tech gadgets, like cameras and consider themselves a bit of a photog… like myself. I wont’ claim at all that I’m good, I just like the tech-geekery of it all.
So, going hand in hand with liking to take pictures, we love to be able to edit them, and we have all the “photoshop”-fu to do what we need. However, often that’s on our desktop and not on our phone.
Well, a quick way to touch up your photos on your phone or tablet would be to use TouchRetouch.
Essentially, for those of you familiar with Photoshop CS5, it uses a strong ‘content aware’ algorithm to remove unwanted bits in your picture. Look in my screen shots as I edit out a spot on one of my Androids.
You load up a picture (or take one), then highlight the area you want to remove out, and then hit go… then magic happens and it it does a good job removing the unwanted bits. Now it’s not always going to be perfect, but it depends on how complex the photo is, and what it has to work with (look at my picture of my desk and I try to remove my phone). But it’ll work for the small bits we want to get rid of.
If you find it’s something complex, you may want to try to do it bit by bit, and get a little ‘finesse’ with the drawing portion of the mask (you get a zoomed in preview). Just gotta keep playing.
It’s great for those quick fixes you want to do without having to upload it to your computer, load up PS, etc…, just a quick tap and share.
Going with the paid version gets you a few better editing options
