Netflix Coming To Select Android Devices, Early 2024

Netflix launched in Canada a few months back allowing Canadians to pay a $7.99/month subscription for video content. The selection wasn’t the greatest here at launch but it has certainly improved and Netflix has become a big deal for anyone wanting to stream content on their various devices.

iOS users and now Windows 7 phone owners have been enjoying Netflix on their phones for some time and the company has now turned their focus to Android. Clearly having such rapid growth, it’s a platform that is hard to ignore. So why will it only come to select Android devices?

Because Netflix has to please all their content providers and due to piracy and DRM concerns, only some devices will be compatible at first. Though they do say that a platform-wide solution will be rolled out eventually.

I really like subscription services. Having unlimited access to content, even if it’s not brand new, means much better value and lets me stretch my $8 as much as my time allows. Certainly being able to watch that content on all my devices would be the most ideal situation. How much does Netflix on Android matter to you?
