#Patentfun GALORE
Now I don’t normally write on Fridays [did you pick up on that pattern?]
But I couldn’t let the plethora of Patent Litigation that’s been going on slide.
So here’s a run down.
- Apple wins their ban of the on the sales of the Galaxy Tab in Germany. Apparently if they’re both square and black it’s too confusing for the Germans to not know the difference between them.
- Apple sues Samsung on their home turf. It wasn’t enough to get the final ban through in Germany, but Apple’s going in for the kill. They’ve tried in US, they’re battling in Australia, won in Germany — now it’s time to take them on in Japan.
- Oracle and Google are just starting to look to find some mediation in their long struggle over usage issues.
- Google helps arm HTC in their intellectual property problems. Google transfers some of their patent portfolio to HTC to aid their defence against Apple.
- Apple suing a company for their logo because it too closely resembles LG (I guess they think it might look like their own if theirs was red or something)
- Microsoft now to squeeze more money out of Android manufacturers. They will make more out of each phone sold than they will out of their own phones. How’s that for a good business model.
And, to top it off:
…
drumroll…
- Apple calls all others ‘uncompetitive‘ because they’re just suing us too much [it’s called a countersuit guys?]
That one’s hilarious!
What do you think of all this?
Well, if you haven’t seen it yet, here’s that info graphic to help you keep all this litigation in perspective. I guess it could probably need some updating as of today.
