Ice Cream Sandwich on its way
… but how likely will it hit our phones?
There’s been a lot of of talk about what the next iteration of the Android OS will be, especially as we see a proliferation of the Honeycomb tablet.
The rumors were that ICS was to ‘unite the OS’ into a single stream, regardless of whether it’s on a tablet or a phone. That’s a bold statement, especially experiencing Honeycomb myself. But then again, there’s some powerful phones a’coming [the Nexus Prime, yet un-revealed, is to be the new flagship to pilot ICS and is no slouch].
Well, enough with the rumors, when is it coming? Typically the Nexus launches are in the late fall; however, somebody recently stated:
We have a new operating system, internally known as Ice Cream Sandwich for some reason, which is being released in October/November, which everyone’s really excited about.
That man was Eric Schmidt; you know, the chairman for GOOGLE! These remarks were made during the Dreamforce conference in San Francisco [I wonder if ever lowly blog writers like myself could get to attend such wonderful events].
So there you have it… from the man who should have all the data [see what I did there?]. A potentially earlier launch of ICS.

What would you like to see in ICS?
I’m not sure what neat new features I’d like to see in a marriage of the phone/tablet OS, except some UI elements that remain consistent and apps won’t have to have separate apks.
