Google Gives Away Free HTC Magic Phones at Google I/O
Google is king when it comes to search on the internet. With their mobile OS Android, they are trying to step up their game to the smartphone world. Today at the Google I/O, the big “G” surprised 5000 attendees by pulling an “Oprah moment”–they gave everyone in attendance a FREE HTC Magic phone! (insert Oprah voice: Ohhhh myyyy gggaawwwwdd!)
I can only imagine being one of the academic registrants who paid $50 to register, only to receive the latest $400 Android smartphone for free, that is not even available in stores yet! All of the phones come with 30 days of unlimited voice and data. Score! Here’s a couple pics:
What is the Google I/O?
Google I/O is a developer gathering focused on pushing the boundaries of web applications using Google and open web technologies. Google engineers and web development leaders will lead you through two days full of in-depth breakout sessions on the latest technologies, and informal Q&A at Fireside Chats.
In less than a week, Canada will be getting their hands on their first Android units! Rogers will be selling the HTC Dream and Magic on June 2nd. I know many people are excited as the smartphone war is just starting to heat up. With the Android Market starting to fill up with apps, Android users have a lot to look forward to very soon!
Are you going to line up on June 2nd at either Rogers, Best Buy, or Future Shop to get your hands on a HTC Dream/Magic (pricing has been revealed)?
