Select Samsung Galaxy S6/Note5 Units to Get Android 7.0 Nougat This Month
The Android 7.0 Nougat update is rolling out for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in some regions across the world.
Now that Samsung has taken care of its current flagships, next in line to receive the update are 2024’s premium models: the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note5. But when can owners expect it to drop?
Now according to new info provided by Samsung’s VP in Turkey, the two phones plus the Galaxy S6 edge+ should start receiving the new update in the third week of February (which is now). As for the “basic” Galaxy S6 edge, the phone get its Nougat treatment towards the end of the month.
This is excellent news, but like always – there’s a catch. Even if the Nougat update for the Galaxy S6/Note5 starts rolling out in Europe, it still doesn’t mean we’re going to see the update arrive in Canada right away.
Like in the case of the Galaxy S7/S7 edge, the new build is being offered to certain users who are located in select territories. And according to recent info, not all Galaxy S7/S7 edge users will receive the OTA in Q1.
So at the moment, users of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note5 will have to wait patiently until the update reaches the country. We hope it won’t take very long until it arrives.
