Current state of Android in Canada [marketshare]

So, I’m a stats guy, I have a minor in mathematics, so I LOVE to see graphs and whatnot.

Today we get to see from Juice the marketshare of Android in Canada.

What’s interesting to see is that we’ve doubled our market share in just 3 months.  However, I’m still confused how we’re still only 20%.  And only 9% back in January?  Back in December I had reported from a different source that we were sitting about 20% back then.  So I take this latest from Juice with a bit of skepticism.

*note, that they do their percentages by ‘ad impression requests’

I do like seeing that Apple has suffered the loss mostly of Android’s gain.  And despite all the recent RIM troubles, it still is growing.  That’s crazy to me.

I’m not suggesting that Android be FIRST, even though I believe it to be the superior OS, but it’s odd how low it is in comparison to the rest of the world.

And people wonder about us Canucks… we do things differently.  Our football fields are longer, we call our couches chesterfields, etc… heck, even within Canada we have our own disagreements:  is it a shag, or a Jack & Jill?  You going to camp or the cottage?

See, in the rest of the world, the market looks entirely different.

In our southern neighbour’s market it looks like:

61%  Triple what we do in Canada.  Now, they do have a multitude of models that we don’t (in fact it’s hard to keep up with some of them sometimes), plus way more providers than we do.  And RIM has more than halved itself!

In the rest of the world it’s more like:

Where it’s just about half!  Impressive.  Now if Canada only pulled up it’s socks and contributed like we should, the global number would even be higher!
