OUYA To Be Sold In Physical Stores This Spring For $100
The OUYA console has gained a lot of support and a lot of momentum since its launch through Kickstarter. Through the Kickstarter program, they gained over$8.5 Million with the support of over 68,000 backers who all have at least one console on order. Definitely one of the best supported devices we’ve ever seen through Kickstarter.
If you happened to miss your chance through Kickstarter, you can still pre-order it online through their website. However, if you’re not a fan of online shopping, the OUYA console may actually be making its way to stores as well. According to a report by Wall Street Journal, OUYA has partnered with several retailers including Amazon, BestBuy, Target, and GameStop to sell this console. The pricing is expected to match that of the site, so $99.99 for the console and $49.99 for a standalone controller.
Now there was no information about locations for these partnerships so it is possible that this could be a US only thing at launch but I definitely see this expanding to us here in Canada as well. If they do make it to stores north of the border, they could be here as soon as June.
