I’ve been meaning to post this for a couple of days now but I keep losing the page as I’m searching the web for new news, but here it finally is. A company by the name of Tactus has found a way to bring advantages of physical buttons to the touch screen. The company isn’t new by any means. They showed off this idea last year and brought it back to CES this past week.
The basic idea behind this new technology is raised bubbles on the touch screen. This is accomplished by tiny pockets of fluid that sit under the screen that are inflated and raise up when needed. It’s a pretty cool idea but having liquid in the device seems like a disaster waiting to happen (unless of course we get some fully water proof devices as well!).
This technology could definitely ease the transition for people who are moving to full touch screen devices for the first time. There’s no word on where we’ll see this technology implemented. However, they did have it built into an Android tablet at CES so that bodes well for us! They also stated that mass production should begin at the end of 2024 or early 2024 so we see this in a device by this time next year.
Check out the video below to see this cool tech in practice.
