Judge Rules Apple To Re-Write Apology

Oh Apple…When will you learn…

A couple of weeks ago the judge ruling the Samsung vs. Apple case in the UK forced Apple to publish an apology letter on their website after Apple failed in their appeal of the previous judgement.  Apple reluctantly complied and published an apology letter….kind of.  In their statement Apple did acknowledge that Samsung did not copy their design or their product.  But close the majority of the “apology” was used to attack Samsung and point out how Samsung actually lost the case in the States.  Many of us Android-ers found the “apology” to be far from an apology and it seems that the ruling judge tends to agree.  Here’s what Darren Smyth of EIP Parnters had to say:

“The objection was that Apple had added to the statement that the court of appeal had ordered, so did not comply with the original order, and furthermore that the additions were not accurate…Apple must now within 48 hours publish a correction on their homepage with a link to the corrected statement in not less than 11-point font.”

The ruling judge, Robin Jacob, had his own thoughts about Apples actions:

“I’m at a loss that a company such as Apple would do this…That is a plain breach of the order.”

Apple requested for 14 days to make the changes which was subsequently rejected.  And in their new “apology,” Apple must also apologize for their previous apology!  I’ll let you know once that gets switched over on their website.  You can check out the original statement below.
